Customer Health and Safety
Since our inception, Del Monte Foods has been invested in consumer health and safety because we know the communities we serve depend on it. From farm to consumer, our products are evaluated for their nutrient profile, ingredient safety and packaging integrity.
Transparent Food Chain
Consumers today are increasingly asking for transparency of their food origins. Our growers and processors are working hard to keep our customers informed about the sources, safety, and sustainability of Del Monte Foods products.
In a time when we see longer and increasingly digitized supply chains, Del Monte Foods is narrowing the gap between farm and family. Beyond our contractual relationships with our growers and close involvement in the growing process, we use newer technologies to gain deeper insights about our farms and the vegetables and fruit they grow. This enhanced visibility is creating further opportunities to collect data and for our growers and customers to share their insights, resulting in greater transparency from farm to table.
Food Safety
As the first major U.S. food producer to voluntarily adopt nutritional labeling on our products, we have continually proven our commitment to the benefits of our products.
Genetically Modified Food
Even though the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the World Health Organization, and the American Medical Association have concluded products containing genetically engineered ingredients are safe, we have taken the decision to provide information about GMOs on our products so consumers can make informed choices.
Like most fruits and vegetables, the fruits, vegetables, and tomatoes in Del Monte Foods products have always been non-GMO, although we have sometimes added ingredients for sweeteners or flavorings have traditionally been sourced from genetically modified crops like corn or soybeans.
GMO stands for “genetically modified organism.” The term refers to organisms, including plants or animals, whose DNA has been altered in a lab using genetic engineering techniques, rather than through traditional farming or breeding methods.
Del Monte Foods products labeled “Non-GMO” do not contain any genetically engineered ingredients. All of our non-GMO certified products, including those that are certified organic, are certified as non-GMO by a third party. Additionally, our other non-GMO products are self-certified. This means we comply with all relevant legal requirements and verify our ingredient sourcing through good record-keeping.

The raw fruits, vegetables, and tomatoes we use in our products are always non-GMO. In fact, most fruits and vegetables do not have genetically engineered versions. However, the vast majority of canola, corn, soy, and sugar beets grown in the U.S. are grown from GMO seeds, and many ingredients derived from these crops are also GMO. This is why a few ingredients we use, such as high fructose corn syrup in our heavy syrup fruit items, come from GMO sources. For more information, visit ams.usda.gov.
According to the FDA, USDA, World Health Organization, and the American Medical Association GMOs are safe. Even though there are no known health risks associated with consuming GMOs, we label our foods with our Non-GMO claims where possible to help you make informed choices.
Product Quality & Safety
The Del Monte Foods name has been synonymous with quality for over 130 years because of our rigorous approach to product safety and quality. Our products, from farm to consumer, are assessed for their nutrient profile, ingredient safety and packaging integrity. Annually, all of our facilities are audited against and certified to an approved Global Food Safety Initiative Standard.
Del Monte Foods has implemented robust process controls throughout the entire supply chain to monitor and manage any potential health risks that may arise.

Nutrition
We’re committed to providing consumers with healthier and more nutritious products, while also offering the familiar flavors they know and love. We believe in empowering consumers with choices, offering a variety of options to suit their needs, including sweetened with stevia instead of sugar and fruits packed in juice from concentrate with added ingredients, as well as 50% reduced sodium and no salt added options.
When developing new products, we are thoughtful about the levels of sodium, sugar, and other added ingredients, balancing consumer preferences with our commitment to health standards.
We offer a diverse range of products designed to support a healthy lifestyle across various brands and categories. We also offer many products that provide ½ cup of fruits or vegetables per serving in fruit, vegetable, and tomato categories.
Clear Labeling
We have a long history of being transparent regarding the health and nutrition attributes of our products. In 1971, Del Monte Foods became the first major U.S. food producer to voluntarily adopt nutritional labeling. Since then, we have continued to take a closer look at the products that we offer and their nutritional value for our consumers. All nutritional labels can be found on our brands’ websites.
